Early life

[edit]

He was born on 12 October 2003 in Seshego Zone 5, Polokwane, Limpopo, and spent most of his childhood in Seshego.[6] He also spent periods living in Gauteng, including Centurion, Hyde Park and Bryanston. Parts of his adoptive family spread out to suburban parts of Johannesburg such as Olivedale, Steyn City and Eye of Africa. He attended Rev. M. P. Malatjie Primary School before completing his secondary education, despite attempts to stay in Johannesburg and complete it at St. John's College, at Dr A. M. S. Makunyane High School in Seshego.[9] Ragedi has described his family as having longstanding involvement in private business, although members of his family have generally maintained low to non-existent public profiles as their lines of work require them to remain so.

Student leadership

[edit]

Jeremiah became involved in the Representative Council of Learners system while attending Dr A. M. S. Makunyane High School[6]. He was his school's first democratically elected RCL president of Limpopo.[10] His involvement subsequently expanded to the provincial level. In 2023, he served as Provincial RCL President of Limpopo. The national RCL handbook identifies Ragedi as the Limpopo Provincial RCL President for the 2023 cycle[10]. He has stated that the provincial RCL structure represented approximately 250,000 learners across Limpopo during his tenure, a figure he associates with work undertaken by the Limpopo Department of Basic Education in collaboration with Agape Youth Movement. He also initiated #RCL4AE, standing for Representative Council of Learners for Academic Excellence.[11]

Debating

[edit]

Jeremiah participated in competitive debating while at Dr A. M. S. Makunyane High School[6] and represented the school in the Polokwane Mayor's Cup debating competition[5]. He reached the semi-final stage of the competition, where he was defeated by Maseala Progressive Independent School, which he has described as his first defeat in competitive debating in Limpopo[5]. Jeremiah also participated in the Capricorn South District Roads and Transport Debates, where he served as the third speaker for his team. He was recognized as the competition's highest-ranked third speaker[5]

Television appearances

[edit]

Jeremiah appeared on SABC1's Daily Thetha during his teenage years[6]. His first appearance, took place when he was approximately 16 years old and involved a discussion with Nitara Moodley concerning issues affecting learners in South African schools. A post published by the Daily Thetha X account relating to the appearance is available from the programme's official account. He later appeared on Daily Thetha for a second time in 2023. The precise broadcast date, topic and programme record should be established before this is presented as independently verified.

Move to Johannesburg and university

[edit]
University of The Witwatersrand

Jeremiah permanently relocated to Johannesburg in 2024 to attend the University of the Witwatersrand. He initially lived at Men's Residence in Braamfontein, a Wits campus residence, before moving to Yale Village, operated by Res publica. In 2026 he moved to Bryanston in Sandton. At Wits, Ragedi has pursued a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Law degree. His public professional profile identifies him as a Wits student and records involvement in Wits Moot Court Society, Wits Debating Union, Wits Ultimate Frisbee and Wits SEED/Young Entrepreneur's Society.[7] His academic and professional interests have increasingly centered on finance, investment banking, economics, commercial law, entrepreneurship and healthcare technology. He has expressed an interest in eventually pursuing further studies in finance, insurance and risk management and has expressed long-term interest in institutions including the London School of Economics, Oxford, GIBS and the Wharton School.

Wits Investment Society

[edit]

Ragedi became involved with the Wits Investment Society, joining its corporate relations subcommittee and working in its corporate-relations activities. In a public announcement, he described the opportunity as combining his interests in finance, law and investment banking. His public profile also records an interest in investment banking and financial markets.[7]

Wits Moot Court Society

[edit]

Ragedi joined the Wits Moot Court Society and was appointed Projects & Events Officer on its 2026 executive committee[8]. The society's published announcement lists him in that position alongside the other members of the 2026 executive. His involvement extended to international commercial arbitration. A member of the Wits team preparing for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot identified him as one of the students involved in drafting heads of argument for the competition. [12] Jeremiah also participated in Wits Moot Court Society's professional events. An advocate from the Johannesburg Society of Advocates publicly described questions posed by Jeremiah during a Wits advocacy panel as contributing to a deeper discussion of legal practice and professional development.

He then resigned from the executive in August 2026. The circumstances surrounding his resignation were involving a conflict of interest with other executive members to his complete fault and takes full responsibility and accountability for his shortfalls. Jerry brings a background in law and civic leadership to his work in health tech. As Projects and Events Officer for the Wits Moot Court Society, he brought in more than a dozen partners from leading law firms and chambers, including Bowmans, Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr, Werksmans Attorneys, the Rivonia Group of Advocates, the Island Group of Advocates, and Oxford Chambers. He is currently studying Law at the University of the Witwatersrand, while pivoting his focus toward finance. He also shadowed at Webber Wentzel through their job shadowing programme in 2025 and worked closely with Advocate Maswanganyi of the Oxford Chambers.[13]

Entrepreneurship

[edit]

Jeremiah began establishing entrepreneurial ventures during his late teenage years and early university career. Ragedi Group was established in 2025 and subsequently became the broader structure around a number of entrepreneurial projects. Public company information based on CIPC records identifies Ragedi Group as a South African private company incorporated on 21 May 2025 and lists Jeremiah Ragedi as a director[14]. Another CIPC-derived record identifies Ragedi & Co, incorporated in May 2025, with Ragedi as director.[15] During 2026, Ragedi developed or established several further ventures, including HISA Health, Doormain, VAYRO/VALRO, Montclear Investments, Waischen Industrial, Black Rand and Books & Buts. Ragedi has described some of his early ventures as unsuccessful because of insufficient funding, while others did

HISA Health

[edit]

HISA Health is Ragedi's principal health-technology venture. Ragedi has described the company as originating from his dissatisfaction with the continued reliance on paper-based healthcare processes in South Africa. Rather than limiting his response to criticism of existing systems, he began developing a technology project intended to provide practical alternatives. The project subsequently developed into HISA Health, which Ragedi established with Awoniyi Mark Oyindamola Temidayo.[3]

HISA's activities have expanded into digital healthcare infrastructure and software, including MAMA, HISA Store and CORA. HISA describes MAMA as an existing foundation that can be adapted to specific clinical workflows, while CORA provides a reusable platform for general practice and primary-care facilities. The company's current infrastructure strategy also includes Doormain, a data and cloud infrastructure venture associated with HISA Health. HISA has stated that its clinical systems, patient records and platforms including MAMA and HISA Store have been moved onto infrastructure operated through Doormain. [1]

Doormain

[edit]

Doormain operates in the technology, information and internet sector and is positioned around cloud, infrastructure and digital services. Public company material describes Doormain as HISA Health's data and cloud infrastructure subsidiary and identifies Ragedi as its first subsidiary director. Doormain's stated objective is to provide organisations with greater ownership and control over their digital infrastructure and data.[16] Other ventures Ragedi's entrepreneurial portfolio has also included: Montclear Investments, Waischen Industrial, Black Rand, Books & Buts, VAYRO/VALRO, an autonomous-drone logistics concept, Ragedi & Co and other early-stage projects. The ventures have varied considerably in their level of development. Some were discontinued because of funding constraints, while others remained conceptual.

Entrepreneurship and innovation activities

[edit]

While studying at Wits, Ragedi became involved with university entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives, including the Wits Entrepreneurship Hub (e-Hub) and Enactus Wits. His professional profile also records volunteer involvement with Agape Youth Movement and UNICEF South Africa[17]. HISA has subsequently described an adviser appointment involving an initiative associated with Agape Youth Movement[18]. Professional development Jeremiah has supplemented his university studies with professional programmes and simulations. His public profile records completion of a Bowmans South Africa Commercial Law programme through Forage and a Goldman Sachs Operations Analyst programme.[19]

Philosophy and interests

[edit]

Ragedi has described his approach to entrepreneurship as being motivated by a preference for active problem-solving over criticism of existing systems. This philosophy is reflected in his account of HISA Health's origins: dissatisfaction with paper-based healthcare processes led him to attempt to build an alternative. His broader interests include finance, economics, investment banking, commercial law, healthcare technology, entrepreneurship and economic development. He has expressed an ambition to develop businesses capable of creating employment and expanding economic opportunity across Africa. Jeremiah hopes to one day reduce Africa's unemployment rate by over 50%.

Future academic ambitions Ragedi's current academic qualification is a National Senior Certificate as he is in progress to acquiring his Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Law at the University of the Witwatersrand[7]. He has expressed an interest in transferring toward or additionally pursuing finance-related study, although he has not yet completed a finance degree. He aimed at deregistering his Law Modules in 2026 with hopes of registering all Bachelors of Commerce majoring in Finance 1st and second year pre requisites with the aim and goal of officially transferring into Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance in 2027. His stated long-term academic ambitions include study in finance, insurance and risk management, further study at institutions such as the London School of Economics, Oxford and GIBS, and eventually an MBA at the Wharton School. These remain aspirations rather than completed qualifications.[2]
