Jalon Simpson
Jalon Simpson is an American football player and former collegiate track and field athlete. He plays linebacker for the West Michigan Ironmen.[1]
Early life and high school career
[edit]Simpson attended Portland High School in Portland, Michigan. In 2015, he was selected to the Associated Press Division 5–6 All-State football team.[2]
College career
[edit]Simpson attended Olivet Nazarene University, where he played football and competed in track and field. As a football player, he earned All-Conference honors twice, was named a second-team All-American, and served as a team captain twice.[3]
Track and field
[edit]Simpson competed primarily in the javelin throw. At the 2018 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, he finished second in the javelin.[4]
In 2019, Simpson won the men's javelin at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a throw of 70.99 meters (232 feet, 11 inches). The mark was his collegiate personal best.[5]
Simpson later competed at the 2019 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, where he finished 14th in the javelin.[6]
Football career
[edit]Simpson later continued his football career with the West Michigan Ironmen. During the 2025 season, he recorded an interception return for a touchdown in a 75–7 victory over the Coralville Chaos.[7]
In the 2026 season opener, Simpson recorded an interception in West Michigan's 81–0 victory over Pennsylvania Union.[8]
