Internet Vikings is a Swedish hosting company that provides infrastructure services for iGaming and online sports betting operators. The company was founded in 2008 by Rickard Vikström and Victor Jerlin.[1][2]
The company initially operated as a broader hosting and domain-services business before focusing on infrastructure for regulated iGaming and online sports betting markets.[3][2] Industry coverage has described its later business model as licensed, in-state hosting for regulated iGaming and online sports betting markets, particularly in the United States.[3]
History
[edit]Internet Vikings was founded in Stockholm in 2008 by Rickard Vikström and Victor Jerlin.[1][2] According to GGB Magazine, Vikström had a technical background in programming and Linux servers, while Jerlin had experience with an online gaming platform in Malta.[1]
During its early years, the company provided hosting, domain-related services and other internet services. It later narrowed its focus to hosting infrastructure for iGaming operators and suppliers.[2]
In 2018, the company generated approximately SEK 40 million in annual revenue.[4] The following year, Jesper Kärrbrink, former chief executive of Mr Green, became chairman of Internet Vikings.[4]
Internet Vikings entered the United States market in 2021, focusing on licensed, in-state hosting for the regulated iGaming and online sports betting industry.[3] Its expansion took place within a state-by-state regulatory framework under which infrastructure providers may require separate approvals in individual states.[5]
By 2025, the company provided licensed, in-state hosting in 24 U.S. states and had also expanded into Canada.[3]
Services
[edit]Internet Vikings provides hosting and infrastructure services for iGaming and online sports betting companies. Its services include:[3][6]
- cloud hosting;
- bare metal servers;
- bare metal GPU servers;
- co-location;
- disaster recovery.
The company's services are intended for operators and suppliers that require hosting infrastructure in regulated jurisdictions.[3] Gambling Insider wrote that Internet Vikings' infrastructure was backed by ISO 27001 certification and Cloudflare-powered DDoS protection.[3]
Operations
[edit]The company has operated infrastructure in the United States, Canada and Europe.[3] In 2025, Gambling Insider wrote that Internet Vikings had launched a data centre in Belgium to support European iGaming and online sports betting operators.[7]
Recognition
[edit]Internet Vikings received the Services Provider award at the 2022 Global Gaming Awards London.[8] In 2024, Internet Vikings was listed as the Cloud and IT Services Partner winner at the EGR North America Awards.[9]
