Draft:InDepth Apnea

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

inDepth Apnea is a suite of freediving and breath-hold (apnea) applications for Garmin Connect IQ sports watches and an associated mobile app, developed by Mariusz Kociubinski.[1] It comprises three apps: inDepth Blue, a depth-freediving and spearfishing app; inDepth Pool, a dynamic apnea pool-training app; and inDepth Apnea Sync, an iOS/Android logbook that synchronises sessions recorded on the watch.[1]

Functionality

[edit]

inDepth Blue records depth, descent and ascent rates, bottom time, hang time, water temperature and heart rate during a dive, and implements several surface-rest timing models intended to reduce the risk of hypoxic blackout across repeated dives, including fixed multiples of dive time and the Adaptive (AIDA), Taravana, and Molchanovs schedules.[2] It can mark surface locations with GPS for dive-site recording.[2]

inDepth Pool records the dynamic-apnea disciplines DYN, DYNB and DNF and static apnea (STA), with automatic turn and lap detection and per-length splits; training workouts can be created on the phone and transferred to the watch.[3]

inDepth Apnea Sync pairs with a watch via Garmin Connect Mobile to import recorded sessions, display depth-profile charts, track trends and personal bests, and export data as CSV or backup files.[1]

Supported devices

[edit]

The watch apps run on selected Garmin devices, including the Fenix 5, 5 Plus, 7 and 8 series and the Descent Mk2 and Mk3 dive computers.[1]
