Hypershell is a consumer robotics company that manufactures battery-powered hip exoskeletons for outdoor activities. Founded in Shanghai in 2021, the company produces the Hypershell X Series, January 2025 after a crowdfunding campaign [1] that raised over $1.2 million in 2023.

[edit]The Hypershell X Series consists of hip-mounted exoskeletons that use electric motors and sensors to add assistance to the user's steps. The devices are intended for use during outdoor activities such as hiking, walking and running[2], to help people hike further[3].
Reception
[edit]In December 2024, the Hypershell Carbon X received the CES Innovation Awards 2025 Best of Innovation designation in the Robotics category[4].
Reviews of Hypershell's exoskeletons have been mixed, highlighting both its ability to reduce effort and the trade-offs during use. Noticeable drawbacks include bulk, fitting complexity and the feeling of altered movement.
