Harry Chun Tak Yeh (Chinese: 叶俊德; also known as Ye Junde; social media handle @harryyeh) was a Chinese-Canadian cryptocurrency investor and entrepreneur.[1][2] He was the founder and managing partner of Quantum Fintech Group, an investment firm focused on cryptocurrency, blockchain and digital assets.[3] Yeh was associated with several projects in the Fantom ecosystem, most notably Tomb Finance.[4]
On or around 7 August 2026 he was found dead outside the Jade Park residential complex in Asunción, Paraguay, after a fall from approximately the 30th floor.[1][2][5] Paraguayan authorities opened an investigation considering accident, suicide and homicide. An autopsy was ordered; no official cause of death had been publicly released as of 10 August 2026.[1][4]
Early life and education
[edit]Public reports state that Yeh was born in Hong Kong and moved to Canada during childhood.Secondary articles have attributed various educational credentials to him, including an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.[6] Other profiles mention studies at Western University and professional development at Stanford.[7] These claims have not been independently verified in reliable secondary sources and vary across publications.
Career
[edit]Yeh entered the cryptocurrency market in 2013, when Bitcoin traded near US$60.[1][2] He launched an early fund with approximately US$250,000 and initially operated through Binary Fintech Group, focusing on over-the-counter (OTC) trading, market-making and fund management.[1] The firm later became associated with or evolved into Quantum Fintech Group.[3]
Quantum Fintech Group described itself as an investment management company seeking returns in cryptocurrency, blockchain and digital assets.[3] Profiles attributed to Yeh and the firm claimed that funds and assets under management by Yeh, the group and partners exceeded US$2–2.4 billion.[3][4] These figures were self-reported and have not been independently verified in public sources.[4]
Yeh was linked as founder or seed investor to LIF3 (described as a Layer-1 permissioned blockchain and DeFi ecosystem) and L3 Reserve (issuer of L3USD, characterised as a variable collateralised stable asset).[3][1] He was particularly visible in the Fantom ecosystem through involvement with Tomb Finance, an algorithmic stablecoin project.[2][4] A 2021 Fantom Foundation post indicated that Tomb operated under Yeh’s oversight after he assumed direction of the project.[4] Tomb Finance reportedly reached a peak total value locked (TVL) of approximately US$1.6 billion in January 2022 before declining sharply; by 2025–2026 the project’s token value had fallen near zero and its social media activity had largely ceased.[1][4]
Public biographies also described prior experience as a chief technology officer and co-founder of technology startups, work with organisations of varying revenue sizes, and trading in traditional markets (stocks, options and currencies).[3][1]
Death
[edit]According to Paraguayan media reports, including La Tribuna, Yeh’s body was discovered outside the Jade Park luxury apartment complex in the Trinidad district of Asunción in the early hours of 7 August 2026.[1][5][2] Police responded to a call around 04:30 local time.[2][4] Reports stated that the body was found naked and covered with a black plastic bag after a fall from roughly the 30th floor (approximately 100 metres).[1][4] The associated 30th-floor apartment was found open and in severe disarray.[1][4] Yeh was also linked to a unit on the 27th floor of the same building.[1][4] Evidence was collected from both apartments and the exterior scene and forwarded to prosecutors.[1]
Authorities, including the homicide division, stated they were investigating multiple possibilities: accident, possible suicide, or involvement of third parties.[1][4][2] Yeh’s 29-year-old Brazilian partner, who resided on a lower floor, told investigators she had no knowledge of the incident.[1] As of 10 August 2026 the autopsy results and further forensic findings had not been publicly released, and no arrests were reported.[4][1]
