Handy is a Uruguayan fintech company founded in 2021 that offers payment solutions and management tools for small and medium-sized businesses. The company integrates payment processing services, financing, and commercial software into a single platform. Its legal name is Riblinor S.A.[1][2][3]

History

[edit]

Handy was founded in 2021 by Martín Guerra, Ana Inés Zerbino, and Fernando Vallone, who are associated with the investment group InCapital.[4]

The company was developed in the context of the opening of multi-acquiring in Uruguay, a change in the payments system that enabled interoperability between different electronic payment methods.[5]

In that context, Handy was presented as the only platform in the country offering a multi-acquiring service at the time of its launch.[6]

In 2023, Banco Itaú acquired 40% of the company, and in 2025 it increased its shareholding to 75%, gaining majority control.[7][8]

Products and services

[edit]

Handy offers a platform of financial services and digital tools for merchants. Its main solutions include:

  • POS terminals for card payments
  • Digital payments through links and QR codes
  • Payment gateway for e-commerce
  • Point-of-sale software
  • Financing services and loans for merchants
  • Electronic invoicing and commercial management tools

Its services are mainly aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, as well as independent workers.[4]

Operations

[edit]

Handy operates in Uruguay and has experienced significant growth since its launch. According to various sources, the company has more than 30,000 merchants and active users in the country.[8][4]

In the context of the local payments system, the company has been identified as one of the relevant players in the digitalization of electronic payments among small businesses.[8]
