Draft:Gentlemen (play)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gentlemen is a play written and directed by Anil Abraham and is about the problems that men face. The play was staged several times including in 2007, 2010, 2017, 2022, and 2023.[1][2]

Cast and characters[3][4]

[edit]

The cast includes Anil Abraham and Ajith Hande.[8][3]

Production

[edit]

The play was first staged in 2007 and was revised in 2022 to be politically accurate.[1] The play features a single female character for "balance" for its four male characters.[2] Ashvin Mathew's character was originally from Andhra Pradesh but since Mathew's use of a Malayali accent was well received the character was changed to be a Malayali instead.[6]

Legacy

[edit]

Ashvin Mathew made his film debut in English Vinglish (2012) after an assistant director watched his performance in the play.[5]
