Gary Linkov is an American facial plastic and hair restoration surgeon and based in New York City. He is the founder of City Facial Plastics, and his practice has focused on lip surgery and hair restoration.[1]

Education and medical training

Linkov attended Cornell University before earning his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. While in medical school, he conducted head and neck cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

He completed his residency in otolaryngology at Temple University and Fox Chase Cancer Center, serving as the chief resident during his last year. He then later pursued a fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.[2] [3]

Career

Linkov founded City Facial Plastics in New York City where he offers facial plastic surgery, cosmetic lip procedures and hair restoration. Over time, his practice has increasingly focused on lip lifts and hair restoration surgeries.[1][4]

Linkov specializes in surgical lip lifts. He has widely discussed patient selection, scarring, surgical techniques and how lip lifts differ from injectable fillers.[5] [6]

Linkov also performs hair transplantation for the scalp, beard and eyebrows using various techniques. His approach focuses on hairlines and growth patterns.[7] [8]

He has also contributed to discussions regarding innovative approaches to hair restoration[9], including hair follicle cloning, regenerative treatments and the increased use of technology in transplantation.[10]

Alongside his clinical practice, Linkov has both authored and coauthored research on otolaryngology, head and neck cancer, tissue engineering and facial specific plastic surgery. [11]

Linkov has built an online audience through educational videos on plastic surgery, hair restoration and other cosmetic procedures. His YouTube channel with over 1 million subscribers includes detailed explanations of surgical techniques and analyses of changes in appearances of public figures. A 2023 Allure feature explored how his YouTube presence contributed to the growth of his practice, reporting that more than half of his patient referral base came from social media. [1]

By 2026, Linkov's YouTube channel had surpassed one million subscribers.[12]

Linkov has also appeared in national media as an expert. In 2021, Linkov appeared on The Dr. Oz Show in a segment discussing hair restoration treatments.[13] Linkov has provided commentary to Vogue on the future of plastic surgery and artificial intelligence, GQ on hair and beard transplantation, [7] [14] Allure on hair restoration and cosmetic surgery, [10] [15]and The New York Times on hair loss. Linkov’s research focuses on head and neck cancer, facial aesthetics, reconstructive surgery and tissue engineering. He has coauthored studies on neck dissection for head and neck cancer, tissue engineered cellular environments and methods for measuring midface position.[11]
