Gabriele Gorelli is the first Italian Master of Wine.[1]
He was born in 1984 in Montalcino, a wine-producing town in Tuscany where he still resides. In 2021, Gorelli qualified as one of 418 Masters of Wine in the world at that time.[2] His final research paper for the Institute of Masters of Wine focused on Quercetin precipitation in Brunello di Montalcino.
In 2021 he was listed as one of the 40 under 40 Wine Industry Leaders for Fortune Italia.[3] Gorelli covers numerous institutional roles in the Italian wine world[4][5] and regularly judges competitions, conducts masterclasses and writes on the subject of Italian wine.[6][7][8][9][10] In 2024, Gorelli, with the Consorzio del Brunello[11] and fellow MW, Andrea Lonardi, developed the Brunello Forma[12] concept for vintage evaluation.[13][14]
