Draft:Fjolla Lake
The artificial lake is named after the valley below Dorëzi castle, Fjolla valley. Dorëzi Castle itself is among the oldest Illyrian forts in the territory of Tirana and among the oldest Illyrian fortresses in all of Albania. In the documents of the Roman era, this strategic fortress was placed "between the valley of the river Piola (today's Fjolla) and the valley of Sculima (today's Zhullima)". To this day, after more than 2,300 years, the name of the valley has been transformed from Piola to Fjolla.
The lake is artificial and was built during the years of communism dictatorship on the land of the patriotic Fjolla family. The house of this family was the center of the National Liberation War for Dorëz and Peza. The house of Fjolla family was burned twice by the Nazi-fascist invaders during the WWII. The house, along with part of the Fjolla family's properties, were flooded to create what is today called the Fjolla family reservoir or lake.
During the summer months, when the water level of the lake drops, the large house of the Fjolla family can be seen if you take a boat in the center of the lake.
Currently, all the land around the lake is owned by the Fjolla family. Despite the fact that it is private property, the family members have decided that access to the lake should not be limited for all those who love nature. The only condition remains the collection of waste.
The Fjolla family lake is located in a place surrounded on almost all sides by hills of different heights. Dorëzi Castle is located on the highest hill. Its water always remains a clear green color. The vegetation around the lake is dense and natural. The road that leads to this lake is paved until Peza and then until Fjolla is gravel and is not recommended for small cars.
