Draft:Ernest R Suffling

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ernest Suffling (1855 - 1911) was a noted English stained glass artist and prolific author [1]. His books included 'A Treatise on the Art of Glass Painting' [2] and 'The Land of the Broads' [3] about the Norfolk Broads, both of which are still in print today.

Ernest Richard Suffling was born in London in 1855 to a blind maker. He worked from the West London Stained Glass Works in the Edgware Road, London for 30 years.[1] He wrote extensively about Norfolk, and lived there for a period [4] - the introduction to his book 'Epitaphia, a Collection of 1300 British Epitaphs, Grave and Gay' [5] lists his address as Happisburgh. He died in 1911.[1]
