Eralp Hatipoglu (born November 27, 1990, in Istanbul, Turkey) is a Turkish entrepreneur and fintech executive. He is the co-founder and president of CityPay.io, a Georgia-based cryptocurrency payment infrastructure company operating across multiple international markets. Hatipoglu is known for his work in digital asset payments, fintech expansion, and cryptocurrency adoption in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Hatipoglu completed his undergraduate studies in Management at Marmara University (2008–2012). He later pursued further education at the National University of Georgia (SEU), studying Business Administration from 2021 to 2025. As of 2026, Hatipoglu is an MBA candidate at the National University of Georgia (SEU)..[2][1]
Career
[edit]Hatipoglu has been active in the fintech, sales, and marketing sectors since the mid-2010s. Since 2020, he has served as co-founder and president of CityPay.io, overseeing the company’s international operations, partnerships, and market expansion.
CityPay.io was founded in 2020 by Hatipoglu and Beka Kemertelidze as a cryptocurrency payment processing platform designed to help businesses accept digital assets and convert them into local currencies. The company received an early startup grant from Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA).[3]
Under Hatipoglu’s leadership, CityPay.io expanded its operations across Georgia and neighboring markets, establishing partnerships with financial institutions such as Octobank in Uzbekistan to foster digital asset adoption.[4]
The company reported operations in hundreds of commercial locations across Georgia, including partnerships with international brands such as Radisson Hotels and Wendy’s Georgia.[5]
In 2023, Tether announced an investment in CityPay.io as part of its expansion strategy in Georgia and the wider Eastern European region.[6][7]
In May 2024, CityPay.io secured a $10 million investment from Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin.[8]
Hatipoglu has publicly stated that his work focuses on integrating regulated digital asset infrastructure into traditional financial systems through collaboration with banks, financial institutions, regulators, and government bodies.[9]
