[edit]Voyages Encore Travel Inc. was incorporated on March 4, 1976, in Saint-Laurent, Quebec.[2] Monique Mardinian, who had studied mathematics at Concordia University, bought the business in 1987. [3]
Growth
[edit]By 2019, the company was handling around C$140 million in corporate travel per year. Encore opened offices in Canada and the United States.[1][4]
In 2017, Mardinian started a separate company, Zii Technologies, to build proprietary travel management software to replace the third-party platforms Encore had been using.[5] By late 2023, most of Encore's clients had moved to the new platform.[5] Zii Technologies won Silver and Bronze Stevie Awards at the 2021 International Business Awards.[6] The platform was renamed Encore Platform in January 2026.[7]
COVID-19 pandemic
[edit]Encore's bookings dropped sharply when the COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020, after the company had managed around C$140 million in travel the previous year. During this time, Encore focused on supporting clients in essential industries who continued to travel during the lockdown.[1] By 2023, volumes had come back to roughly 35 percent above 2019 levels.[3]
Recent developments
[edit]In November 2024, Encore opened an office in San Salvador, El Salvador.[8] Marc-André Brunet, previously at Egencia, joined as Vice President of Product in May 2025.[9]
Leadership
[edit]Mardinian has run Encore as its CEO since buying it in 1987. In 2024, she was listed on FutureTravel's Top 100 Women Leaders and Innovators in Travel.[10]
