EmergyCare is a nonprofit emergency medical services (EMS) organization headquartered in Erie, Pennsylvania. It is the largest EMS and medical transportation provider in northwestern Pennsylvania.[1]

The organization provides emergency ambulance services, non-emergency medical transportation, critical care transport, paratransit services, EMS education programs, and community standby services throughout northwestern Pennsylvania.[2]

History

[edit]

EmergyCare was founded in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 1983.

Over subsequent decades, the organization expanded throughout northwestern Pennsylvania. In 2025, EmergyCare assumed responsibility for ambulance coverage in portions of Crawford County formerly served by Life Force.[3]

Regional reporting described the transition as a significant expansion of EmergyCare's operations and documented increased service demand following the change.[4]

In 2026, EmergyCare assumed operations of Conneaut Lake Area Ambulance Service following staffing shortages that threatened continuous emergency medical coverage in the region.[5]

The transition was intended to restore reliable 24-hour emergency ambulance coverage in the Conneaut Lake area.[6]

[edit]

EmergyCare has been featured in EMS trade publications for its organizational leadership, workforce development efforts, quality improvement initiatives, and operational practices.[11]
