Echobox Memory Vault is a Canadian digital storytelling and senior technology company based in Calgary, Alberta. Originally founded in 2019 by Tim Roberts and Tannis Roberts, the company provides a digital platform that enables users to record and store personal life stories in written, audio, and video formats.[1]
History
[edit]Tim Roberts conceived the idea for Echobox in 2015 after learning of a widower who had lost a voicemail recording of his late spouse.[1] The company was formally launched in July 2020.[1]
Echobox received media coverage during the COVID-19 pandemic in discussions about digital tools designed to preserve personal stories and support connection across distances.[1][2]
The company was also featured in a regional segment by BBC Look North.[3]
In 2024, Echobox was selected as part of the Alberta Catalyzer Velocity cohort, a program supporting startups in Calgary and Southern Alberta preparing for expansion.[4]
Overview
[edit]Echobox Memory Vault provides a private, invitation-based platform where users can store personal memories digitally. Media coverage has described the platform as expanding into healthcare contexts including dementia care, senior care, and palliative care.[1]
The company operates within the senior technology sector, which has grown alongside increased adoption of digital tools in aging populations.[2]
