EPAM Systems, Inc. is an American information technology consulting and software engineering company headquartered in Newtown, Pennsylvania. It provides services including technology consulting, cloud and artificial-intelligence transformation, and software engineering.[3]

History

[edit]

EPAM was founded in 1993 by Belarusian-born software engineers Arkadiy Dobkin and Leonid (Leo) Lozner. Dobkin operated from New Jersey, while Lozner was based in Minsk, Belarus. The initials originally stood for "Effective Programming for America".[4]

In 2004, EPAM merged with Fathom Technology, a Budapest-based software-services company with approximately 160 employees. The combined business retained the EPAM name.[5]

EPAM completed an initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange in February 2012.[6] Later that year, it acquired the Toronto software consultancy Thoughtcorp for $17 million and the Conshohocken digital agency Empathy Lab for an undisclosed amount.[7]

In 2018, EPAM acquired the Boston design consultancy Continuum and the British digital agency TH_NK.[8][9]

Fortune included EPAM in its list of the 100 fastest-growing companies in 2019, 2020 and 2021.[10][11][12] In 2023, Forbes ranked the company 104th on its list of America's 200 most cybersecure companies.[13]

In 2024, EPAM acquired the technology consultancy NEORIS and the consulting business of FD Technologies. The FD Technologies transaction was valued at $300.9 million.[14][15]

On 1 September 2025, Balazs Fejes succeeded Dobkin as chief executive. Dobkin became executive chairman.[16]
