DzalekaPay is a payment platform based in Malawi. Founded by Bakari Mustafa in 2026, the platform provides merchant checkout and payout services using mobile money and other supported payment methods.[1]
The platform entered public beta on 23 June 2026. It provides payment links, QR-code checkout pages, storefronts, event ticketing, fundraising pages and transaction records for merchants and organisations.[2]
History
[edit]DzalekaPay was founded by Bakari Mustafa. The service originated in connection with Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa District.[1]
Dzaleka Online Services announced the public beta of DzalekaPay on 23 June 2026. At launch, it was available to merchants, freelancers, event organisers, campaign organisers and community organisations.[2]
Although initially developed around commerce in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, the beta announcement stated that merchants elsewhere in Malawi could also use the service.[2]
Services
[edit]DzalekaPay provides hosted checkout pages that merchants can share through payment links or QR codes. Customers do not need a DzalekaPay account to make a payment.[3]
The platform supports mobile money payments through services used in Malawi. Other payment methods are available where supported by the underlying payment provider.[1]
DzalekaPay also provides online storefronts, event ticketing and fundraising campaign pages.[2]
The service describes itself as a merchant checkout and payout platform rather than a bank, mobile-money operator, personal wallet or remittance provider.[1]
