Deepmala Manoj Kale is an Indian politician who serves as the 17th Mayor of the Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation (JCMC) in Maharashtra, India.[1] A senior member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), she was officially elected to the mayoral office unopposed on 6 February 2026 under the ruling Mahayuti alliance banner.[2]
Political career
[edit]Kale has an extensive career in grassroots civic governance in Jalgaon, successfully contesting municipal elections from Ward Number 7 as a candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party.[3] Following the conclusion of the 2026 Maharashtra local body elections where the Mahayuti coalition registered a commanding victory in the 75-member house, she emerged as the consensus candidate for the mayoral office.[2]
Mayor of Jalgaon (2026–present)
[edit]On the final day of nomination filings, no opposition candidate submitted papers against the Mahayuti alliance nominees. Consequently, the presiding officer officially declared Deepmala Kale elected unopposed as the Mayor of Jalgaon City Municipal Corporation, bringing an end to the administrative rule in the civic body.[1] Concurrently, Manoj Chaudhary of the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) was elected unopposed as the Deputy Mayor.[3]
Immediately upon assuming charge of the office, Kale transitioned into an active administrative review, demanding full accountability and expense ledgers regarding the public development works executed during the preceding two-and-a-half years of bureaucratic administrative rule.[4] Her announced primary civic priorities include accelerating pending urban infrastructure upgrades, transparent financial distribution, and improving municipal road sanitation networks across the city.[1]
