David Petrushev (Serbian Cyrillic: Давид Петрушев; born 26 May 2008) is a Serbian-Macedonian footballer who plays as a central midfielder for the under-19 team of Spanish club Gimnàstic Manresa. He can also play as a defensive or attacking midfielder and is predominantly left-footed.[1]

Petrushev developed in the youth systems of Red Star Belgrade and Čukarički before playing for FK 011, IMT and Trayal. In 2026, he moved to Spain to join Gimnàstic Manresa's under-19 side. At international youth level, he represented North Macedonia at under-15 level.

Early life

[edit]

Petrushev was born in Belgrade on 26 May 2008. He began playing football at the age of five with the Viner football school. At the age of eight, he joined the youth academy of Red Star Belgrade, where he played for the club's first selection of players born in 2008 and wore the number 10 shirt.[2]

Club career

[edit]

Red Star Belgrade

[edit]

Petrushev joined Red Star Belgrade's academy in 2016 and represented the club at domestic and international youth tournaments.[2] At the 2018 Dukakis Cup, he was named the most promising player born in 2008. The tournament included youth teams from Red Star Belgrade, Partizan, Čukarički, Dinamo Zagreb, Osijek, Maribor, Domžale and Akademija Pandev.[3]

Čukarički

[edit]

After four years with Red Star, Petrushev continued his development at Čukarički. In May 2021, he was selected for the Football Association of Serbia's summer school for players born in 2008. The camp was held at the association's sports centre in Stara Pazova from 25 to 29 May, with Petrushev listed among the midfielders.[4]

FK 011, IMT and Trayal

[edit]

Petrushev later played for FK 011, appearing in the Belgrade younger-cadet league during the 2023–24 season. In September 2024, he joined IMT's cadet team before moving to Trayal, where he appeared at cadet and youth level.[5]

Training periods abroad

[edit]

In 2024, Petrushev spent two weeks training with the youth set-up of German club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.[6]

Gimnàstic Manresa

In the summer of 2026, Petrushev moved from Trayal to the under-19 team of Spanish club Gimnàstic Manresa.[1] He joined the club's Juvenil A squad and continued playing as a central midfielder.

Petrushev represented North Macedonia at under-15 level. On 5 September 2022, he appeared in a 5–1 win against Armenia U15 at a development tournament in Skopje, replacing Lorent Zhaku in the 65th minute.[7] Transfermarkt credits him with five appearances for North Macedonia U15, without scoring.[1]
