Daniel Humberto Rizzotti Daniel Humberto Rizzotti (born 3 April 1966) is an Argentine-Australian mariner, ice pilot, environmental campaigner, and master mariner. He is best known for his long career with Greenpeace, where he has served as captain of several campaign vessels, including the Rainbow Warrior, Arctic Sunrise, and SV Oceania. He has participated in environmental and peace campaigns in the Arctic, Antarctic, Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans. Early life and education Rizzotti was born in San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina. He studied maritime disciplines at the National Technological University – Naval School before beginning a professional seafaring career. After leaving the Argentine Navy, he travelled to the United Kingdom, where he first became involved with Greenpeace. Maritime career Rizzotti joined Greenpeace in the 1990s, initially serving as a volunteer aboard Rainbow Warrior II. He subsequently progressed through the ranks as deck officer, chief mate, and eventually captain. Over nearly three decades he has commanded vessels operating in some of the world's most challenging environments, including polar waters. His professional experience includes: Master Mariner.
