Ari Kalimi, known professionally as DJ Affect, is an American DJ, record producer, and songwriter based in Miami, Florida. He co-wrote and co-produced "Pause", a track on Pitbull's 2011 album Planet Pit.[1][2]
Career
[edit]Kalimi began DJing as a teenager in Miami Beach nightclubs, earning an early residency after filling in for a DJ who failed to appear at a local club.[2][3] He held a weekly Monday-night residency at the South Beach club B.E.D. for about five years and has performed at high-profile events, including a New Orleans Saints Super Bowl after-party.[2] Frustrated with commercial FM radio, he later launched an internet radio venture.[4] In 2018, he appeared as himself in an episode of the reality television series Love & Hip Hop: Miami.[5]
Production and songwriting
[edit]Kalimi co-wrote "Pause" for Pitbull's sixth studio album Planet Pit (2011), credited under his own name and as "Affect".[1] Planet Pit was certified platinum in Canada.[6] "Pause" was later featured in the 2014 DreamWorks Animation film Mr. Peabody & Sherman.[1]
He has also worked as a producer and songwriter for Republic Records recording artist Bria Lee.[7]
