Claire Kann is an American novelist. Her works include Let’s Talk About Love, The Romantic Agenda, and Suitehearts.

Career

Kann's debut novel, Let’s Talk About Love, was published in 2018.[1] It is a young adult novel that follows Alice, a biromantic asexual college student who falls for a boy named Takumi after her ex-girlfriend breaks up with her.[2][3][4] Let's Talk About Love was a top ten title for the 2019 American Library Association Rainbow Book List and was a nominee for the 2018 Goodreads Choice Award for Young Adult Fiction.[5][6]

In 2019, she published another young adult novel, If It Makes You Happy.[7] In 2022, she released The Marvelous, a drama about a group of girls who enter a mysterious contest at the estate of the reclusive celebrity develop of a popular social media app.[8][9]

Kann published her first adult novel, The Romantic Agenda, in 2022.[10][11] It follows Joy, an asexual woman with an unrequited crush on her friend Malcolm, who enters a fake relationship with a man named Fox when Malcolm starts dating Fox's ex-girlfriend Summer.[12] Kann's other adult novels include Looking for Love in All the Haunted Places, which follows a woman with ESP abilities who joins a ghost hunting show,[13] and The Marriage Narrative, about a businesswoman who becomes engaged to a man whose family is the subject of a long-running reality television show.[14][15][16]

In 2023, Kann published her first middle-grade novel, Suitehearts: Harmony and Heartbreak, about two cousins with magical powers who train to become "Matchmakers" who use their abilities to help people fall in love.[17][18] It was followed by Suitehearts: Drama and Destiny in 2024.[19][20]

Personal life

Kann is queer.[21][22][23] She has a Bachelor in Art in English/Creative Writing from Sonoma State University.[24]
