CheckMark, Inc. is an American business software company that develops desktop and cloud-based payroll, accounting, and tax-reporting software for small and medium-sized businesses. The company is headquartered in Fort Collins, Colorado.

History

CheckMark, Inc. (formerly CheckMark Software, Inc.) was founded in 1984 by Jim Mathre and Bob Roeder.[1]

The company released General Ledger, an accounting application for macOS, in 1985, followed by CheckMark Payroll Software in 1986 and CheckMark MultiLedger in 1987. Payroll and accounting software for Microsoft Windows platforms were introduced during the 1990s.[2] The company later expanded into tax-reporting software with the release of CheckMark 1099 Software in 2011.

In 2014, the leadership of the company transitioned to Mohammed Ghani and Sayeeda Ghani. In subsequent years, CheckMark introduced additional tax-reporting and cloud-based products, including CheckMark 1095 Software and CheckMark Online Payroll.

  • CheckMark Payroll Software — a desktop payroll application for processing payroll and payroll-related tax calculations.[3]
  • CheckMark Online Payroll — a cloud-based payroll application supporting payroll processing, direct deposit, and employee self-service access.[4]
  • CheckMark MultiLedger — a desktop accounting software application that includes general ledger, accounts receivable and payable, inventory management, and financial reporting.[5]
  • CheckMark 1099 Software — a desktop application used for preparing and filing IRS Form 1099.[6]
  • CheckMark 1095 Software — a desktop application used for preparing and filing IRS Forms 1095 related to Affordable Care Act reporting.[7]
