Catherine Bevan (1680-September 10, 1731) was executed in 1731 in the Delaware Colony for the crime of murdering her husband. She is sometimes cited as the last person executed by burning in colonial America,[1][2] but Esther Anderson was executed by burning for murder in the Province of Maryland in May 1746.[3]
