Carmelo Quattrocchi is a Maltese competitive angler who specialises in float fishing.[1]
Career
[edit]Quattrocchi has represented Malta in international float-fishing competitions. In 2013, he was part of Team Malta B at the European Float Fishing Championships in Algeciras, Spain.[2]
In 2014, the Kingfisher Sport Fishing Association reported that Quattrocchi was featured in the Italian fishing magazine Pesca Da Terra in an article concerning float fishing.[3]
Quattrocchi represented Malta at the 2019 European Float Angling Championship in Porto Torres, Sardinia.[4]
Domestic competition
[edit]In 2013, Quattrocchi won the Kingfisher Sport Fishing Association Mullet League.[5]
The Kingfisher Sport Fishing Association's historical league classifications also list Quattrocchi among its domestic league winners.[6]
In 2019, the Kingfisher Sport Fishing Association reported that Quattrocchi won the National Federation league and that he was selected to represent Malta at the European Float Angling Championships.[7]
In 2021, Quattrocchi and Miguel Grech won the KSFA Colmic Doubles League.[8]
In 2024, Quattrocchi won consecutive matches in the KSFA Colmic Open Float League.[9][10]
In 2026, Quattrocchi won the National Federation Float Fishing Selection and qualified to represent Malta at the Float Fishing World Championship in Viana do Castelo, Portugal.[11]
International competitions
[edit]In April 2025, Quattrocchi won the silver medal at the III Master Colmic Andaluz Corcheo Mar in Spain, finishing second overall. Malta Daily reported that the result was the best-ever result by a Maltese sports angler in an international competition outside Malta at the time[12]
TVM news stated that Quattrocchi missed the gold by a mere 500grams.[13]
