The Center for Scientific Consulting & Meta-Research in Biomedical Sciences (Spanish: Centro de Consultoría Científica y Meta-Investigación en Ciencias Biomédicas), commonly referred to as CECIMIB, is an independent research and consulting center based in Barranquilla, Colombia.[1] The organization focuses on the generation, application, and transfer of knowledge through the critical analysis of biomedical research. CECIMIB is currently recognized on Wikipedia's index of international metascience research centers and organizations.
History and Leadership
[edit]CECIMIB was founded by Ivan David Lozada-Martinez, who currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of the center.
Focus Areas and Operations
[edit]The center's primary areas of expertise and daily operations include:[2]
- Meta-Research and Scientometrics: Evaluating and quantifying scientific literature to identify gaps, priorities, and trends in global health research.
- Biomedical Data Analysis: Developing and sharing methodologies for health research. The center maintains open-source repositories on platforms like GitHub and Zenodo for scripts and datasets used in biomedical meta-research.
- Education and Training: CECIMIB provides educational initiatives and issues official certificates of completion for specialized training courses, such as fundamentals of data analysis using R.
