C. Govindakrishnan is an Indian social worker and disability rights activist based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is the founder of Nethrodaya. Nethrodaya has been dedicated to empowering the differently-abled through special education, skill development, and social support.[1]
Life and education
[edit]Govindakrishnan is visually impaired. He holds a postgraduate degree in English Literature. [1]
Govindakrishnan started Nethrodaya in October 2002 to support visually impaired people through education and shelter. The Tamil Nadu government later gave the organisation land in Mogappair to build on. [2]
Awards and recognition
[edit]National Award for Individual Excellence in the "Shrestha Divyangjan" category, presented by the President of India, 3 December 2023.[3]
