Bupa Hong Kong (Chinese: 保柏香港) is the trading name of Bupa (Asia) Limited.[1], a Hong Kong-based medical insurance and healthcare provider founded in 1976.
Its parent company is the UK-based Bupa Group. The Group has no shareholders, and all profit is reinvested into the business. [2]The parent's insurance arm holds an "A+" financial strength rating from international ratings agency Fitch[3].
Bupa Hong Kong is authorised and regulated by the Hong Kong Insurance Authority. It also provides healthcare services under the brand Quality HealthCare (Chinese: 卓健醫療)[4]
In recent years, Bupa Hong Kong has been actively expanding through partnerships. Since 2014, customers can buy policies through Hang Seng Bank branches or online banking[5]. From 2020, Bupa Hong Kong has worked with BOC Life to distribute Voluntary Health Insurance Scheme (VHIS) products, and in 2025 it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Manulife[6][7]. Also in 2025, in support of the government's primary healthcare model, Bupa medical insurance members gained access to community dispensing services at healthcare retailer Mannings, where they can consult a registered pharmacist and collect medication, helping ease pressure on the public healthcare system.[8]
Bupa Hong Kong's medical insurance is one of the voluntary insurance schemes available to civil servants and non-civil-service government employees under the Civil Service Bureau.[9][10]
