Bromma Air Maintenance AB (BAM) is a Swedish company primarily engaged in aircraft service and maintenance. Its headquarters and hangar are located at Stockholm-Bromma Airport, but BAM also operates at Norrköping Airport, Malmen Airport in Linköping, and Sveg Airport.
History
[edit]BAM was founded in 1979 by Ingemar Björk when he acquired Flygfirma I. Ehrenström, an aviation workshop that served as the general agent for aircraft manufacturers such as Gulfstream, Aero Commander, and Fairchild. At that time, the company employed five technicians, and the Cessna Citation and Learjet were among the most common aircraft types serviced—as they remain today. In 1980, BAM became an authorized service center for Raytheon Beechcraft.
In 1997, BAM opened a hangar at Norrköping Airport to service the scheduled service from Nice operated by the airline Air Express.
In 2000, 45 people were employed at BAM; when the former owners sold the company, 24 of the employees joined forces to purchase it, and the former technical manager, Egert Lönn, was appointed CEO.
In 2003, the collaboration with the Swedish Armed Forces was expanded and in addition to maintenance on their Beech King Air B200, the work also included so-called front maintenance on the Swedish Armed Forces' training and liaison aircraft SK 60 / Saab 105 at Malmslätt Airport.
Flotta
[edit]BAM owns two Beech King Air B200 aircraft. These have been modified and equipped to perform calibration flights and air ambulance missions. One aircraft is leased for air ambulance operations in the Nordic region, while the other conducts measurement and calibration flights for the Swedish Civil Aviation Administration (LFV), operating in countries such as Norway, Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, Lithuania, Spain, and Iraq.
Other
[edit]Over the years, BAM’s operations have expanded to include aircraft sales, spare parts sales, an avionics shop, a sheet metal workshop, and a technical resource center. Today, the company has 80 employees and a turnover of SEK 215 million. The CEOs are Marcus Lönn and Per Östedt.
