Breaking Fuel is a French rock power duo based in Bordeaux, consisting of Maxime Barreau (drums, vocals fx, percussion, guitar) and Antoine Dochier (bass with effects pedals and a parallel output through guitar amplifiers, backing vocals). The band initially formed in 2015 as a quintet, releasing its first album, More More More, distributed by Musicast. The band has performed in a variety of venues, festivals and locations, including La Maison (Allez les Filles) in Bordeaux, the Baionan Fest, Le Nadir in Bourges (l'Antre-Peaux), La Mecanique Ondulatoire in Paris, La Souris Verte in Epinal, Le Rocher de Palmer and Rock School Barbey in Bordeaux, Le Porge Pouce le Son, and Sala Razzmatazz in Barcelona.

Musical style

Breaking Fuel develops a fusion rock sound combining elements of alternative rock, experimental rock, post-rock, reggae, punk and progressive music. The band cites Frank Zappa and The Mars Volta among its influences and favors an analogue recording approach.

The album was recorded on magnetic tape, in analogue, at Studio des Collines (Dordogne), co-produced and mixed by Camille Jamain and Bernard Indeau, and distributed by Musicast. Artwork by DERIK.

The four EPs were recorded in several locations, including Clouds Hill Studio^[3] in Hamburg, in The Oak Room, with sound engineer Sebastian Muxfeldt, as well as Studio de l'Atelier in Paris and later Lacanau, with Camille Jamain as co-producer and mixer. Analogue mastering was carried out at Mer/Noir in Paris by Jean-Charles Bastion. The first EP, Make, was funded through a crowdfunding campaign in 2022.

Make Our Delay Great Again

Full album bringing together the four previous EPs and featuring the additional track Jam 1 (Zach Montagne), whose music video was assembled from tour footage.

The album features contributions from Adrián Terrazas-González (The Mars Volta, T.R.A.M.), Matthieu Lesenechal (Big Sir) and science-fiction writer Alain Damasio.

Available on vinyl via Modulor Records and on streaming platforms, the album surpassed 2 million streams and received coverage from several French and international media outlets, including Rolling Stone South America^[4], France 3 Nouvelle-Aquitaine^[5] and France Culture. It was also selected by La Grosse Radio for the #BigVeryBestOfRock 2023^[6]
