Bleap is a British financial technology company headquartered in London, founded in 2023 by João Alves and Guilherme Gomes, both former operators at Revolut.[1] The company offers a self-custodial fintech account and Mastercard debit card enabling users to spend, save, and manage money globally.[2] Bleap has partnered with Mastercard to integrate stablecoin payments directly into traditional financial infrastructure, allowing other self-custodial wallet providers to connect with Mastercard's payments network.[3]

In 2023, Bleap raised a $2.3 million seed round led by Consensys founder Joe Lubin's Ethereal Ventures, valuing the company at $10 million post-money.[2][3] In 2024, the company raised a further $6 million seed round to expand its onchain finance platform.[1] Co-founder Guilherme Gomes was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.[4]

History

[edit]

Founding (2023)

[edit]

Bleap was founded in 2023 in London by João Alves and Guilherme Gomes, previously operators at Revolut.[2] The company raised $2.3 million in seed funding to develop a financial account built on blockchain infrastructure.[2]

Expansion (2024)

[edit]

In 2024, Bleap raised a $6 million seed round to expand its onchain finance application, which combines a Mastercard debit card with self-custodial wallet infrastructure.[1]

Mastercard partnership (2025)

[edit]

In April 2025, Bleap announced a strategic partnership with Mastercard aimed at integrating stablecoin payments into traditional payment infrastructure.[3] The collaboration allows other self-custodial wallet providers to connect directly with Mastercard's payments network without additional integration work.[3] Bleap's platform is built on the Arbitrum network and uses multi-party computation (MPC) technology, provided by Portal, in place of traditional seed phrases.[3] At the time of the partnership announcement, Bleap said it had onboarded thousands of users and processed more than $5 million in transactions since its beta launch.[3]

Regulatory status

[edit]

Bleap operates in the European Economic Area through its Latvian entity, Bleap SIA, which is registered as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) with Latvijas Banka, the central bank of Latvia.[5]

Products and services

[edit]

Bleap offers a Mastercard debit card with cashback paid in stablecoins, a self-custodial wallet built on account abstraction (ERC-4337), and fee-free trading and on/off-ramping between fiat and stablecoins.[3] The wallet supports the USDC, USDT, USDA and EURA stablecoins, and its on/off-ramp and bridging services support the Arbitrum, Ethereum, Polygon, BNB, Solana and Bitcoin networks.[3]
