The BioTechUSA Group is a privately held Hungarian company group engaged in the manufacture and distribution of dietary supplements, functional foods and sports apparel. The company was founded in 1993 by Ferenc Lévai and Katalin Lévai, initially under the JLM Powerline name, and later adopted the BioTechUSA brand.[1] The group operates the BioTechUSA, Scitec Nutrition and ShakerStore brands.

History

The business developed from a Hungarian family-owned company that initially sold fitness equipment and later expanded into dietary supplements, vitamins, protein products, shakers and sports apparel. Hungarian business media have described the company’s growth from a domestic family business into an international dietary supplement group. [2]

In 2020, BioTechUSA acquired Scitec Nutrition from Ascendis Health. Forbes and Portfolio reported that the transaction brought the Hungarian-founded Scitec Nutrition brand back under Hungarian ownership.[3] [4]

Operations

The group is headquartered in Budapest, Hungary. Its activities include the development, manufacture and distribution of dietary supplements, functional foods and related products.

BioTechUSA Group operates manufacturing and logistics facilities in Hungary, including a production and logistics site in Szada. Hungarian media have reported on the Szada site in connection with the company’s manufacturing operations and logistics investments.[5]
