[edit]Gamey began her career in office furniture sales before joining Comcheq Services, a Winnipeg-based payroll software company founded by Bill Loewen, in 1984 [1] where she quickly rose to vice-president of sales and marketing. [1] She remained with the company after the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce acquired it in 1992, and left after Ceridian (now Dayforce) purchased Comcheq from the bank in 1999. [1]
Payworks
[edit]In 2000, Gamey co-founded Payworks Inc. in Winnipeg, Manitoba alongside John Loewen, former president of Comcheq and a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, and Dave Johnston, founder of Johnston Group, a national third-party group insurance administrator. [1] Payworks was founded to offer Canadian businesses a more modern payroll platform than existing providers. [1]
From its founding, Gamey was president of Payworks before becoming chief executive officer, [5] and by 2025, the company had surpassed US$100 million in annual revenues without having raised any outside capital. [1]

[edit]In 2017, Gamey was appointed co-chair of the Premier's Enterprise Team by then-Premier Brian Pallister.[5] Together with Dave Angus, she consulted more than 500 stakeholders across the province and delivered the report Growing Manitoba's Economy in 2019 as part of Manitoba's economic development strategy. She has served on the Business Council of Manitoba's education committee, where she contributed to the Horizon Manitoba Report alongside presidents of the province's post-secondary institutions.[2] Gamey participated in the business council's Youth CEO (Creative Employment Opportunities) program at its 2017 launch, which connects Indigenous, newcomer, and underserved youth with work placements at member companies. In 2022, Gamey was appointed by the Manitoba government to the inaugural board of the Manitoba Venture Capital Fund, a provincial initiative committing $50 million to attract venture capital investment.[10]
Community Organizations
[edit]In 2018, she was named Campaign Chair of United Way Winnipeg, an organization she had been involved with for over 30 years.[3] She has also served on the board of directors of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League, and has volunteered with Special Olympics Manitoba, the Prairie Theatre Exchange Foundation, and Athena Leadership, a Manitoba-based non-profit supporting women's professional development. Chancellor of the University of Winnipeg
[edit]In July 2020, Gamey was appointed Chancellor of the University of Winnipeg, succeeding Bob Silver, who had served since 2009. [2] As chancellor, she serves as the university's ceremonial head and presides over convocation ceremonies. [2]
