AMMOUSA is a Greek craft brewery based in Patras, Greece, founded in 2016 by mechanical engineer Georgios Ntanos.

History

[edit]

AMMOUSA was established in 2016 as a homebrewing venture in Patras.[1] The business expanded to commercial brewing and distribution in early 2019.[2]

In July 2026, AMMOUSA collaborated with the coffee chain Coffee Island to produce a variation of its stout using Colombian coffee beans.[3]

Products

[edit]

The brewery produces two main labels:

  • AMMOUSA English IPA (5.5% ABV): An unfiltered and unpasteurised India Pale Ale brewed with ginger, introduced commercially in 2019.[4]
  • AMMOUSA Tropical Stout (7.0% ABV): An unfiltered and unpasteurised stout brewed with vanilla and coffee, introduced in 2024.[5]

Distribution and recognition

[edit]

AMMOUSA beers are distributed in Greece and exported to select international markets, including Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and France.[6]

The brewery has received awards in domestic and international competitions, including a Double Gold Medal at the European Beer Challenge (2019) for its IPA,[7] a Silver award at the World Beer Awards (2024),[8] and a Gold award at the World Beer Awards (2026) in the Tropical Stout category.[9]
