Career
[edit]In 2017, Bello was cast in his first professional project, the starring role in 59E59 Theaters' production of Stephen Kaplan’s play A Real Boy. Following this, he performed in numerous productions in the New York underground theater scene, as well as commercial appearances.
In 2019, Bello made his Broadway debut portraying Bert in Roundabout Theater Company’s revival of All My Sons by Arthur Miller[1]. Later that year, he continued his work with Roundabout, appearing in the Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams' The Rose Tattoo starring Marisa Tomei[1]. In February of 2020, Bello was cast in the Broadway transfer of the Olivier award-winning London production of Caroline, or Change[1]. Bello was cast as Joe Thibodeux, Caroline’s youngest child. However, the production was delayed before its first preview due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Bello resumed work on the show in 2021, portraying Caroline’s elder son Jackie. The production ran until January 2022, and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical[1]. In late 2021, Bello began appearing as Henry Wexley in the HBO Max series And Just Like That…, the reboot of Sex and the City. In February 2022, Bello was cast as the titular role in the Kenny Leon-directed New York City Center Encores! production of The Tap Dance Kid [1]. He received critical acclaim for his role and appeared on the cover of The New York Times Arts Section.
In 2023, Bello appeared as Sebastian in the Searchlight Pictures comedy film Theater Camp. Bello once again received critical praise for his role, and won the Sundance Film Festival award for Best Ensemble alongside the rest of the film’s cast.
