Alexa Helfy (Hungarian: Helfy Alexa; born December 23, 2003) is a Hungarian singer, songwriter, performer, and former television talent-show contestant.[1] She is best known for competing on the Hungarian edition of X Factor in 2022, where she advanced to the live shows and ultimately finished in fourth place.[2][3][4][5]

Early life and education

[edit]

Helfy was born on December 23, 2003. She attended Bálint Balassi High School in Budapest and later studied at Kőbánya Music Studio.[6]

Helfy began taking singing lessons at an early age and had received formal vocal instruction for approximately eight years by the time she appeared on X-Faktor.[7] Before entering the competition, she had performed at numerous events and appeared in several stage productions.[6]

Among the artists she has cited as role models and musical inspirations are Aretha Franklin, Lizzo, Rihanna, and Doja Cat.[6]

X-Faktor

[edit]

In 2022, Helfy auditioned for the ninth season of the Hungarian edition of X Factor, broadcast by RTL Hungary. She advanced through the audition, boot camp, and judges' house stages before becoming a contestant in the live shows.[6]

At her audition, Helfy performed "About Damn Time" by Lizzo, earning a place in the boot camp. During the boot camp, she successfully completed both assigned performances and advanced after convincing the show's mentors.[6]

At the judges' house, she performed "A Million Dreams" by P!nk, which secured her place among the contestants selected for the live shows. Her mentor during the competition was Erika Herceg, the Hungarian singer and former member of the Ukrainian girl group VIA Gra.[6]

During the live shows, Helfy performed a series of songs from contemporary pop and R&B artists as well as Hungarian performers.[6]

Her performances included:

  • First live show: "Four Moods" by Azahriah
  • Second live show: "Love on the Brain" by Rihanna
  • Third live show: "Toy" by Netta and "Megmondtam" by T. Danny

Helfy ultimately reached the final stages of the competition and finished fourth overall.[8][9]
