Alberto Cappiello (born 25 June 1969) is an Italian horn player. He has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in concerts in Europe and Latin America.
Early life and education
[edit]Cappiello was born in Cles, Trentino, on 25 June 1969.[1] According to Ariminum, he began his musical studies at the Istituto Musicale G. Lettimi in Rimini and later studied horn at the Conservatorio G. Rossini in Pesaro, where he graduated in 1988.[2]
After his diploma, he became a member of the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana in Fiesole.[2] In the 1992–93 academic year, he received a scholarship from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to study at the music academy in Budapest.[2] From 1994 to 1996 he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, where he obtained a final solo diploma.[2] Westfalium also reported that Cappiello studied in Rimini, Pesaro and Budapest, and received a solo diploma in Dresden in 1996.[3]
Career
[edit]Italian orchestras
[edit]Early in his career, Cappiello worked as an additional horn player with several Italian orchestral institutions, including the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the RAI Symphony Orchestra in Rome.[2] Ariminum also reported later collaborations with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, the Filarmonici di Torino, I Pomeriggi Musicali and other Italian ensembles.[2]
International appearances
[edit]In 2015, Cappiello appeared with the National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia at Komitas Chamber Music Hall in Yerevan, in a programme of Armenian medieval music and Komitas arranged by Grigor Arakelian.[4]
In 2018, Venezuelan newspaper Diario La Nación reported that Cappiello visited Táchira for musical training and cultural exchange activities.[5] The visit was also covered by Diario de Los Andes, which reported that Cappiello was recognized as a visitor of honour in San Cristóbal.[6]
In June 2019, Altarimini reported that Cappiello performed at the Teatro Nacional de San Salvador, playing Richard Strauss's Horn Concerto No. 2 under conductor Germán Cáceres.[7] Later that year, Chiamamicittà reported two further concerts in Mexico, including performances in Xalapa and Mexico City.[8] The Mexico City performance was also listed by the Secretariat of Culture of Mexico City in connection with the Orquesta Iberoamericana.[9]
In 2022, German regional outlet Westfalium listed Cappiello as a horn soloist in a concert with the Kammerorchester Rüthen in Warstein, Germany.[3]
Awards
[edit]According to Westfalium, Cappiello received a special prize at the 1993 International Philip Farkas Competition in Budapest.[3]
Recordings
[edit]Cappiello is credited as horn and horn leader on the 1998 Amadeus release of Mozart violin concertos with Giuliano Carmignola, Il Quartettone and Carlo De Martini.[10]
