Akhil Kotak is an Indian film director, writer, producer and actor who works primarily in Gujarati cinema. His directing credits include Blind Dates (2022), 2G Apartments (2022), Patkatha (2023), Chhutacheda (2025), Fari Ek Vaar (2025) and Ka Kha Ga Gha (2026).[1][2][3]

Career

Kotak directed and wrote the Gujarati thriller Blind Dates, released in February 2022. He also appeared in the film as Sameer. Raju Poriya was credited as co-director.[4]

He directed the Gujarati family drama Love You Papa, released in June 2022, and appeared in the film. The British Board of Film Classification credits Kotak as the film's director.[5]

Later that year, Kotak directed the crime drama 2G Apartments, in which he played Vasu. The film was released on 9 December 2022.[6] Moviebuff also credits Kotak as a producer of the film and lists Akhil Kotak Production and Kutch Talkies among its production companies.[7]

In 2023, Kotak directed the Gujarati drama-suspense film Patkatha. The film, released on 8 December 2023, featured Kotak, Bhavini Jani, Nishith Brahmbhatt and Arvind Vegda.[1] BookMyShow additionally credits Kotak as a writer and screenplay writer on the film.[8]

In 2025, Kotak directed the Gujarati drama Chhutacheda, starring Hitu Kanodia, Arvind Vegda, Kotak and Nirali Joshi. The film was released on 17 January 2025.[9]

Kotak subsequently directed Fari Ek Vaar, a Gujarati family drama starring Supriya Pathak, Tiku Talsania, Avani Modi, Netri Trivedi and Utsav Naik.[2]

The film deals with companionship and loneliness among people who have lost partners, divorced or remained unmarried. During production, Kotak said that the film sought to explore the possibility of people finding companionship again later in life.[10]

Film trade publication Film Information covered the production of Fari Ek Vaar during the filming of a song aboard the Akshar River Cruise in Ahmedabad. The report discussed Kotak's direction of the sequence and noted that Tiku Talsania had been the first choice of the filmmakers and Kotak for his role.[11]

The Central Board of Film Certification certified Fari Ek Vaar on 22 August 2025, recording a certified running time of 128.21 minutes and crediting Kotak as director.[2]

In 2026, Kotak directed the Gujarati drama Ka Kha Ga Gha, starring Mona Thiba Kanodia, Hitu Kanodia, Shounak Vyas and Arvind Vegda. The film was released on 27 February 2026.[3] BookMyShow credits Kotak as the film's director, producer and writer.[12]
