Chad Valenzuela Vidanes is a Filipino film and television director and post-production executive. His directing credits include the television and streaming series He's Into Her (2021–2022), Zoomers (2024), and the Philippine adaptation of What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2024), as well as the film My Love Will Make You Disappear (2025). Vidanes was the Philippine national winner for Best Direction (Fiction) at the 2021 Asian Academy Creative Awards for He's Into Her.[1]
Background and early career
[edit]Vidanes is the son of media executive Cory Vidanes and television director Bobet Vidanes. He joined Star Cinema in 2015 as a production intern before moving into other production and directing roles.[2]
In a 2021 interview, Vidanes said he wanted to establish a professional identity separate from his parents. Earlier in his career, he worked as a second assistant director on several Star Cinema films.[3]
Vidanes's early directing career was profiled by The Manila Times in 2021 in connection with his work on He's Into Her.[4] In a separate interview with Bandera, he said he had learned from director Cathy Garcia-Sampana and described directing as his calling.[5]
Career
[edit]Vidanes directed the teen romantic comedy series He's Into Her, starring Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano. He returned to direct its second season in 2022.[6]
In 2024, Vidanes directed the youth series Zoomers.[7] He also directed the Philippine adaptation of the South Korean romantic comedy series What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, starring Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino.[8]
Vidanes made his feature-film directorial debut with the 2025 romantic comedy My Love Will Make You Disappear, starring Chiu and Avelino.[2]
In 2026, Vidanes co-directed the television series Someone, Someday with Dolly Dulu. The series stars Kathryn Bernardo, James Reid, and Maja Salvador.[9]
Vidanes is also chairman of Terminal Six Post, a Philippine post-production company.[10]
