Code should take publication-date into account

I'm looking at {{ME-ref/TH}} and noting that although the cited edition was published in 2002, the original publication was in 1937. Because the former is coded using {{{publication-date}}} and the latter using {{{date}}}, the latter seems to be taking precedence. Might I suggest that the code which checks for this compatilibility be adjusted to take into account the {{{publication-date}}} parameter? HTH HAND —Phil | Talk 14:53, 23 March 2026 (UTC)

No template parameter markup in section headings.

If we are to believe our article The Annotated Hobbit, that title was first published in 1988. Because that is the title being cited, the 1937 publication date is inappropriate; The Annotated Hobbit did not exist in 1937.

Discussion about parameter choice for {{ME-ref/TH}} should take place on that template's talk page; not here.

Needs an override

Fix isbn date err = Create SFN err

Realized by changing |year to |orig- and using 1965+ pub year. I've "fixed" many Sources and finally Noticed the err & tracked the refcite sfn
One easy mod sfn BUT other "|ref=sfnref|Chambers|1930" add to source. - Complicated Research Testing fix (58 year span too stupid)
I'll have to book this rant to remind myself to check for created err IF i bother in future.
