Early life and education
[edit]Collado was born on July 16, 2007 in Sipocot, Camarines Sur as an only child. She grew up in a family of singers, including her grandmother, who also joined singing competitions in the past. According to her mother, who also serves as her vocal coach, Carmelle's talent for singing was already evident at the age of three.[1] She has then continued to join competitions while pursuing her studies. She graduated from senior high school at the King Thomas Learning Academy in Camarines Sur, finishing with honors.[2] She is also known for being a student leader, dancer, majorette and a church psalmist. Currently, she is pursuing a Tourism degree at the University of Nueva Caceres.[3]
Career
[edit]In 2019, 12-year-old Carmelle Collado won a total of seven gold medals at the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Long Beach, California, United States, where she represented the Philippines.[1] The WCOPA is considered a prestigious international competition for performers and entertainers from various countries. In the same year, she joined the fourth season of The Voice Kids Philippines under Coach Bamboo and was hailed as the 1st-runner up.
In 2024, she represented King Thomas Learning Academy for the Tawag ng Tanghalan: School Showdown and won the title on January 2025. The 17-year-old got a total average score of 98% from the hurado scores. In the final round, she performed a medley of Aretha Franklin hits "Natural Woman," "Chain of Fools," and "Ain't No Way," which earned a standing ovation from the judges.[4]
She also collaborated with The Voice USA Season 26 winner Sofronio Vasquez in reimagining the OPM classic "Maalaala Mo Kaya," which now serves as the theme song of ABS-CBN's long-running and beloved program, MMK.[5]
