Bommagondeshwar (Kannada: ಬೊಮ್ಮಗೊಂಡೇಶ್ವರ), also called Bommagond and Bommagondeswara, is a Gond tribal leader and spiritual figure venerated in Bidar district, Karnataka, India, regarded as an aradhya daiva (revered deity) of the Gond Adivasi community who inspired cultural, social, and memorial initiatives in the region,[1] and is a 12th‑century historical figure and saint widely revered as the legendary founder of Bidar,[2] recognized in local history and archaeological references for establishing the settlement that eventually grew into the prominent historical city.[3]

[edit]Bommagondeshwar is believed to have originated from Chidri village in Bidar, which is considered his birthplace. His contributions are celebrated as unique to Kannada society and Gond traditions, with community leaders emphasizing his role in uplifting marginalized groups.[4]

[edit]- Bommagondeshwara Circle, located in Linganand Nagar, Bidar, is a historical landmark named in his honor. It is situated about 1 km from Bidar railway station and serves as a cultural point of reference for the community.[5]

- Naming the Bidar Airport after Bommagondeshwar.

- Constructing a community hall and an Adivasi museum in Bidar city.
