Billy Major (born 21 November 1996)[1] is a British alpine ski racer who competes in the slalom. He finished inside the Top 20 at the 2025 World Championships and the 2026 Winter Olympics.
Early life
[edit]Major grew up in Saffron Walden.[2] His parents ran a skiing company, and he began skiing at the age of two and competing in races when he was seven.[1] He attended the Dame Bradbury School.[3]
Career
[edit]After winning the Delancey British Alpine Championships in 2017 and 2018, Major was selected to compete at the 2019 World Ski Championships.[3]
Major competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in the slalom, however failed to finish the first run. He had set the fastest time at the first checkpoint on the course.[2] In 2023, he finished 16th in a World Cup race in Gurgl, marking his best result up to that point.[4]
Major competed at the 2025 World Championships, finishing in 15th place. Later in the season he achieved a personal best of ninth place in a World Cup race at Hafjell.[5][6] His good form continued into the 2025-26 season, where he placed inside the Top 30 in four World Cup races prior to the Olympics.[7] At the 2026 Winter Olympics, he competed in the slalom. He finished the first run in thirteenth position, however dropped to 16th after the second run, finishing ahead of team-mate Dave Ryding.[8]

[edit]Alongside skiing, Major studied neuroscience at the University of Manchester.[3]
