Badelbu (Persian: بدلبو, romanized: Badelbū;[1] Syriac: Bādilbū)[2][a] is a village in Nazluchay Rural District, Nazlu District, Urmia County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 328, in 74 families.[4]

History

Bādilbū was inhabited by 5 Church of the East Christian families and had 1 priest but did not have a church in 1862, according to the Russian archimandrite Sophoniah.[5] There were 5 Church of the East Christian families with no church or priest at Bādilbū in 1877, as per Edward Lewes Cutts.[6] Basil Nikitin, the Russian consul at Urmia, recorded that the village was populated by Christians and Muslims just before the First World War.[7] It was located in the Anzel district.[5]
