AzSamand was an automobile factory belonging to Evsen Group Company located in Şamaxı, Azerbaijan.[1]

History

[edit]

The project opened in October 2005, with the support of the Government of Azerbaijan. The automobiles branded "Aziz"[note 1] have the "AzSamand" label. AzSamand works with Iran Khodro and also was planning to produce cars with diesel engines. In May 2010, both groups submitted designs for the engine.[note 2]

The factory closed in 2010, having produced 1,500 Samand cars over four years.[2]

Models

Notes

[edit]
  1. Short for Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan inamla zirvələrə, lit.'Azerbaijan confidently at the top'.
  2. The new models of diesel cars will start producing in Azerbaijan this year.[when?]
