Awaz.bd is a Bangladeshi online platform where users can anonymously share experiences of sexual abuse during childhood.[1][2] It was launched on 7 September 2026 by Rakibul Hasan and Salahuddin Jahangir.[3] The platform uses anonymous submissions to compile statistics on reported incidents, including the age, gender and reported location of the incidents.[4] The submissions are voluntary and anonymous, and the resulting figures are not nationally representative of child sexual abuse in Bangladesh.[5]

Purpose and activities

[edit]

Awaz.bd was created to document experiences of childhood sexual abuse in Bangladesh, including those linked to educational institutions.[4] Users can submit accounts of abuse they experienced during childhood without revealing their identities.

The platform initially focused on accounts from boys, but later began receiving submissions concerning girls as well.[3]

The founders have said that Awaz.bd does not provide legal assistance or conduct investigations.[6]

Statistics

[edit]

Awaz.bd received 45 submissions during its first 24 hours, according to Daily Prothom Alo.[2] The number of submissions was reported to have reached 78 by the afternoon of 9 September and 93 by that evening.[7][8] By the afternoon of 10 September, the number had reached 124, according to The Daily Campus.[6]

Of the 124 submissions, 53% concerned boys and 47% concerned girls. The largest share involved children aged 10 to 12. The home was the reported location in 49% of the submissions, while 33% were associated with religious or educational institutions.[3]

Among the submissions associated with religious or educational institutions, Qawmi madrasas accounted for the largest number, according to BD Today.[9] The figures are based on anonymous accounts voluntarily submitted to the platform and are not official government statistics or nationally representative data on sexual abuse in Bangladesh.[3]

By 18 September 2026, 10 days after the platform was launched, 173 accounts had been published, according to Bangla Stream.[10]
