The 8th Assembly of Kerala was elected in the 1987 Kerala Legislative Assembly election. The Speaker of the assembly was Varkala Radhakrishnan. The Deputy Speaker was Bhargavi Thankappan. The leader of the Assembly was E. K. Nayanar from the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The leader of opposition was K. Karunakaran of the Indian National Congress. The Assembly had 11 sessions with 282 days of sittings. A total of 112 bills were passed during this period.[1][2]
