Notability

DGG Would you care to elaborate on what you are missing in order to remove the wikipedia:notability tag? The article currently has multiple sources (Forbes and Business Insider articles) that offer significant coverage according to the general notability guideline. I originally tagged it for both notability and promotionalism. It think that at present you are correct that it shows at least borderline notability, but it is straightforward promotionalism and advertising for him, using vague terms of praise , and I have tagged ti accordingly. The guide here is to write not what he would want to say about himself, but what a reader hearing his name might want to know about him. Either you can fix it or I can or someone else, but unfixable promotionalism is a reason for deletion. . DGG ( talk ) 06:10, 30 January 2019 (UTC)

DGG When I first editted this I thought I had a good version. When I tagged you here I thought I removed all of the promotional material but completely missed the entire re-writing of the career paragraph. Apologies for that. I think the current version is much better at establishing notability as well as using encyclopedia-phrasing. Your comment on "write what reader hearing his name might want to know" was very helpful in discerning what was bad about the article. Thank you. There are still problems, so I applied an appropriate tag .6 of the 12 sentences are either promotional, name dropping, or over use of personal detail. Extra care is merited on all wikipedia pages. Whenever I'm paid for work I always announce it loud and clear. Thank you for the ad hominem though. Dear Agam, (if that is the correct transliteration of your name, my apology if not) while I agree the IP was wrong to assume bad faith, I do think you are understating the issue. If you do have a connection with the subject of the article, you need to disclose this. (That is, disclose the existence of a connection, not the details)

I see you continued editing the article after this discussion happened, and I cannot tell if the accusation had any merit, so I will not assume that you have a connection, but if you do, please disclose that and refrain from editing the page. It is not necessarily that I think (if you do have a connection) you are making bad edits or anything, but that the appearance of someone with a COI (again: only relevant if you do have a connection) contributing to a page will harm the trust of readers/users in our content (this page specifically, but perhaps also generally) and project.

Add section for support of killing children

On April 10th, 2024, Hilel tweeted out that he supported the killing of the grandchildren of Ismail Haniyeh, the Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority, all of whom were age 10 and under, claiming these children were terrorists. I would add this to the article myself but his biography appears to have extended protection for some reason.

Social media post about the edits here

It appears that Hillel is tracking any edits to this page (via RSS?) and has made his followers go both to this page and to Murder of Ari Fuld to try to evade consensus as described in MOS:TERRORIST to describe the murderer of his brother as a terrorist. While I abhor murder of any people, the matter of fact is that the sources outside of Israel do not use the word ‘terrorist’ to describe actions of one murderer, and as was explained on the other talk page, Newsweek didn’t use it at all, WashPost used it in title but didn’t use it anywhere but quoting someone, and BBC also didn’t use it outside of quotes. There is no reason to not use MOS:TERRORIST in this case, especially when on the page about the murder it wasn’t used at all (presumably Hillel isn’t tracking edits there and so he isn’t sending his followers to edit the page).

Regardless of the propriety/impropriety of using the word "terrorist," right now the section makes no sense, given that it doesn't explain what happened to Ari that caused Hillel to become more active in politics. It's like saying that MLK was simply "shot," or that Archduke Franz Ferdinand "died," without explaining any of the political situation that is 100% relevant. I think it is quite obvious that you are just importing your OWN political bias in rewriting it in the non-neutral form it is in now. However, I absolutely don't want to get involved in an editing war between 2 people of wildly different political persuasions trying to spread an ideology through edits. Well, my only edits to the article were to remove a label that violates MOS:TERRORIST guideline and to add ‘in the West Bank’ to the location mentioned in that sentence since it is otherwise unclear where it is. If the brother’s death is what motivated Hillel to start more actively support Israel even as it commits a genocide and countless war crimes (same as Russia, btw), and you have sources for that, that should probably be reflected on the page. The mere presence of the words ‘Palestinian terrorist’ does not do so. The article could probably be improved to reflect Hillel’s turn to pro-Israel advocacy post-October 7 but I didn’t write it, and frankly, after a barrage of things I’ve read about myself from his supporters, I don’t intend to involve myself more than I already am on this minor point. stjn 22:14, 18 May 2026 (UTC)
