Tawesco is a Czech engineering company based in Kopřivnice. It produces press tools and stamped or welded metal components.[1] The company is part of Promet Group.[2]
The company was established in 1995 as Nářaďovna TATRA, a toolmaking subsidiary of the truck manufacturer Tatra.[3][4] It was renamed Tawesco in 2002 and became part of Promet Group in 2011.[4][5]
History
[edit]Tawesco was incorporated on 5 January 1995 as Nářaďovna TATRA, spol. s r.o.[3] The company originated in Tatra’s toolmaking operations.[1] It added a stamping plant in 1997.[1] Nářaďovna TATRA became Tawesco in 2002,[4] and a welding shop opened in 2004.[1]
Promet Tools acquired Tawesco from Tatra in 2011, bringing the business into Promet Group.[6][5] The Czech Office for the Protection of Competition approved the acquisition on 25 March that year.[6]
In 2016, Tawesco had revenue of CZK 1.7 billion and an operating profit of CZK 187 million. About a fifth of its production went to Tatra; Škoda Auto was another customer.[5] Annual revenue was reported at nearly CZK 2 billion in 2019, when its customers included Audi and Volvo.[7]
In 2025, Tawesco opened a welding training centre at its Kopřivnice plant to help address a shortage of qualified welders. The centre is used to train employees and students in cooperation with a welding school in nearby Studénka.[2]
